Challenge
Covetrus Ascend is a cloud-native practice management system designed for small animal veterinary practices, start-ups, and mobile clinics.
The challenge was to improve an information-rich digital product used across everyday practice operations - creating new pages, reworking existing interfaces, and revising user journeys while maintaining consistency across the wider platform
Solution
The UX/UI work focused on simplifying complex interactions and creating clearer, more predictable paths through the system.
Existing screens and workflows were reconsidered alongside newly designed pages, with attention to information hierarchy, navigation, search, filtering, user management, and recurring interface patterns
UX System
The project covered a wide range of interconnected flows and interface states - from login and configuration to search, document templates, user tables, profile views, editing, and account reset processes.
Rather than treating individual screens in isolation, the work addressed how users move between them, helping create a more coherent experience across the platform.
Outcome
The resulting UX/UI system brings greater structure and consistency to a complex practice management environment, supporting both detailed administrative tasks and frequently repeated workflows.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful UX can make feature-rich professional software easier to navigate and use without oversimplifying the functionality it needs to provide.
